Assignment of Rights

If you are entitled to receive property or money, you may in turn transfer, or assign, that right to another party. Some important things to know would be:

  • If the rights you wish to assign are based on a previously existing contract, be sure said contract allows assignment of these rights.
  • Verify whether the assignment of these rights substantially changes the obligations of the person(s) with whom you signed the contract. If it does, you may not be able to assign these rights.
  • Use an Assignment of Rights Form to transfer your rights.
